Taster days are offered across Easter and the summer holidays to allow students to try out their vocational options. You can start at the most appropriate stage for your needs. Please contact us to discuss this further. How will I learn? Our new courses are all about preparing for adulthood. You will learn practical skills across your chosen subjects e.g. how to care for small animals and horses; gardening and floristry skills; or farming and countryside. If you choose to study construction skills you will learn a range of trades skills, which could be carpentry, bricklaying and plumbing. You will also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement where you will develop your skills in the workplace. This learning will prepare you for entering the workplace. We encourage you to learn how to shop for food, how to cook for yourself and take part in travel training so you can eventually travel independently. You will use the independent living flat to practise your skills for eventually living independently or in supported accommodation. You will also take part in local activities and visits to learn about the resources in your local community which will give you the confidence to take part in local community activities after you leave college. Finally, you will learn about healthy lifestyles including healthy eating, exercise and how to stay fit, safe and well. Assessment will be ongoing and some of your learning will be certificated. Maths and English Moulton College also offers all Supported Learning students the opportunity to develop their skills in English and maths and take formal assessments where appropriate. These can be in Skills Awards, Functional Skills or a re-take GCSE English or maths course if you are working at that level. You will study in small groups with a teacher and Learning Support Assistants. If you need additional 1:1 teaching, this will be provided for you.
