Financial Assistance We’re here to help with financial matters too… A range of options are available to students looking to go into Further Education or progress their career depending on their age and circumstances. Under 19s All further education courses are free for students who are under the age of 19 on the 31st August of the year the course starts. You won’t be expected to pay any tuition, examination or registration costs. 19 and over If you’re 19 or over, you’ll normally need to pay for examination, tuition and registration fees. However, you may be eligible for government defined fee remission if certain criteria are met. Please contact our Student Services team on 01604 491131 for more information. 24 and over If you are 24 or over, you have options available when it comes to funding your studies. This includes taking out a loan, applying for a bursary and paying in full. Loans You can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of studying level 3, 4, 5 or 6 qualifications on a number of courses if you’re 19 or older (as long as you are eligible for a Level 3, 4, 5, or 6 course). Loans have to be paid back. Repayments don’t start until you have finished your course and you earn more than £21,000 a year. You may also be eligible for money from the Advanced Learner Loan bursary fund if you need help with some costs while studying, for example, childcare, travel or accommodation expenses. You may apply after you have received a letter approving your Advanced Learner Loan. More detailed information is available at www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans/overview. Further details on course costs and Advanced Learner Loans are available from the Student Services team. Full payment Payment can be made online through the Moulton College website – (https://epay.moulton.ac.uk); a cheque made payable to ‘Moulton College’ (quoting your Student Reference number on the reverse); or by telephone using a credit or debit card. Financial assistance We administer some learner support funds, on behalf of the government, for students experiencing financial hardship. Support is offered towards the cost of equipment, uniform, travel, meals and childcare while studying. There are also a number of bursaries available. Bursaries All students whose household income is below £28,000 can apply for a bursary. This could help towards the costs associated with attending the college i.e. transport costs, campus contributions, PPE, tuition fees, residential fees (if required) and free college meals (if eligible). Bursaries of up to £750 are available for FE and HE students to help with course costs, materials and equipment. Students aged 16 – 24 who live in Northampton and whose household income is below £25,000 can apply. Those who already receive a bursary will not be excluded.
