Our wide variety of courses and first-class industry experience prepare you for a career in forestry, arboriculture, tree nursery, woodland management or craft working. Arboriculture students have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College. Our extensive College estate has areas of woodland and ornamental shrubberies with decorative trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. You’ll use the estate to develop your tree identification and tree-related science knowledge. We also have links with a number of local estates, to help enhance your learning experience. Our well-stocked Arboretum includes over 100 different species of specimen trees. You’ll also have access to the College’s specialist arboriculture workshop where you will work on machinery maintenance. Specialist equipment including brushwood chipper, chainsaws and elevated platforms will be used in lessons to develop your knowledge and skills in tree felling, tree climbing and woodland management. You will complete work experience through off-site work placements as part of your programme. In addition, our outstanding study resources include science laboratories and a Learning Resource Centre, meaning there has never been a better time to study at Moulton College. How will I learn? Our lecturers are all specialists in the sector and have experience working in the Arboriculture industry. Our staff have worked as climbers, managers, consultants, surveyors and contract managers. You can expect a mix of theory-based and practical study, with ongoing assessment throughout your course. Maths and English All students who have not achieved a grade C or 4-5 in GCSE English or Maths are required to complete a tailored study programme to develop these skills. All lessons embed English and maths skills, ensuring that all students that study at Moulton College are able to apply these transferable skills to any given role.
