Future options A Level 2 Diploma will give you the chance to progress to employment, an apprenticeship, full-time employment in the industry as a site carpenter or set up as a sole trader (self- employed) in the sector. Course includes This course will advance your knowledge of proper carpentry practice whilst on-site. You will develop your woodwork skills as well as widen your knowledge of construction technology and tool maintenance. You will also be taught the safe set-up and operation of a circular saw. At college, you’ll learn theory and develop your practical skills which will then be assessed to establish your competence within your workplace. You will attend college on a day release basis and these frameworks usually take two years to complete. The intermediate apprenticeship is ideal if you are just starting a career as a carpenter or joiner and the advanced apprenticeship is designed to allow you to move towards a supervisory role.
