Our wide variety of courses and first-class industry experience prepare you for a career in event floristry, retailing or teaching. Floristry students have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College. Our workshops are fitted with cold storage, display and photography areas. You’ll use these areas to develop your practical floristry skills and to build your portfolio of floral designs that will form part of the assessment procedure. Our extensive ornamental grounds contain a wide variety of plants. You’ll use these flowers when producing floristry displays for competitions and corporate events through the year. You will complete work experience through off campus work placements as part of your programme. In addition, our outstanding study resources include a science laboratory and a Learning Resource Centre, meaning there has never been a better time to study at Moulton College. How will I learn? Our lecturers are all specialists in the sector, have experience running their own floristry shops and have achieved the highest qualifications in the industry. They will guide you to achieve your targets by setting high expectations in a supportive teaching and learning environment. Expect to study an exciting combination of theory and practical, with ongoing assessment throughout your course. Maths and English All students who have not achieved a grade C or 4-5 in GCSE English or Maths are required to complete a tailored study programme to develop these skills. All lessons embed English and maths skills, ensuring that all students that study at Moulton College are able to apply these transferable skills to any given role. Level 1 Diploma in Floristry Duration One year Location Moulton Entry requirements GCSE grades at E-G/1-2 or equivalent or an entry Level 3 Diploma in a related subject. Future options After achieving your Level 1 you can progress to Level 2 full-time or an apprenticeship. Alternatively, you may go on to be a floristry assistant or floristry shop worker. Course includes You will learn the basics of floral design and arrangements. You will be able to identify common pests and diseases and be able to correctly recognise a wide range of flowers. We encourage creativity at Moulton College and this course will provide some great opportunities to create some beautiful planted designs.
