Future options This course can lead to a Degree or employment as a head gardener, assistant gardener, landscaper, groundsman, green keeper, garden designer, botanist, production horticulture, nursery person, garden product sales person, landbased machinery operator or agronomist. Course includes The focus of this two-year course is to enhance your skills in landscape construction, garden design using computer aided design, advanced propagation and sports turf maintenance. You will be capable of working with a wide range of tools and equipment to shape our estate, improving your plant identification and plant and soil science skills along the way. Apprentices in Horticulture will have a permanent job in the sector and will combine work and college- based training. At college, you’ll learn theory and develop your practical skills which will then be assessed to establish your competence within your workplace. You will initially attend college on a day release basis and these frameworks take between 18 months and two years to complete. There are a range of different pathways which can be selected to best reflect your work role.
