This qualification is for young people just leaving school and entering college in the land-based sector.

This qualification has Health and Safety as a mandatory unit as this is key knowledge for working in the land-based sector. the other units cover introductory knowledge and practical skills in floristry.

Your course will be formerly assessed by a multiple choice exam based on Health and Safety and Preparing for work.

Throughout the course there will be tests on flower and plant identification, written assignments and practical assessments to track your progress.

On successful completion of this qualification you can progress on to level 2 technical Certificate in Floristry.


This course is for Students 16+ looking to start a career within floristry. If you like to interact with others, be creative and are keen to develop practical, technical floristry skills, then this qualification is for you.

Throughout this qualification you will learn about different flowers and plants and how to look after them. You will also learn that there is much more to Floristry than flowers and that for florists to be successful, they need to understand their tools, environment and the finishing touches that make a difference. With this, you will develop an understanding of design principles and the skills needed to apply these to the design and creation of floristry products. You will gain an understanding of how floristry businesses operate and develop skills needed to interact with customer and identify their needs.

You may or may not have any experience in floristry. You will gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge that are important when you are working in a floristry setting, or progressing to further learning and training in this area. On successful completion of this course you may progress on to Level 3 Technical Diploma in Floristry

Your course will be formerly assessed by a multiple choice exam based on Health and Safety, an exam based on general floristry and a Synoptic (practical) assessment. Throughout the course there will be in-house tests on flower and plant identification, written assignments and practical assessments to track your progress.

This qualification is for you if you are over 16 and want to work in floristry. It provides you with a range of specialist technical practical skills and knowledge which will equip you to progress to employment or further learning and training within the floristry industry. Is is recommended that you have previously gained a level 2 qualification in floristry.

You will study a range of topics that are all compulsory. These will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress into employment in the floristry industry. You will study creative floral design methods and techniques, botany and business skills. On top of that you will cover in detail how to produce a range of designs, including tied designs, wired designs, glued designs and designs in different mediums. You will study how to produce floral designs for different events, such as weddings and funerals. You will also learn about current and future design development and innovation in floristry
